What is Amazon Live App Testing?

Also called LAT

Amazon Live App Testing is the Amazon Appstore's beta testing service, which sends a version of your app to chosen testers through the Amazon Developer Console before it goes live.

Amazon describes Live App Testing (LAT) as a way to distribute an app you intend to publish on the Amazon Appstore to a predefined set of testers before it goes live. Testers use Amazon’s production services, such as In-App Purchasing, so they see what customers would see. It is the Amazon Appstore’s counterpart to TestFlight or a Google Play testing track.

Testers come from tester groups you set up in the Amazon Developer Console first; the test sends them invitations once it is live. You start a test from My Apps, through the app’s menu, under Live App Testing, and can run up to five tests of one app in parallel. Fixes go in as an upcoming version of the same test. When you’re happy, you promote a tested version to go live, as long as its version code is greater than the live version’s. Creating, ending or promoting a test takes the administrator, developer or tester role.

In VibeView. Every VibeView submission to the Amazon Appstore goes to Amazon review, and Amazon publishes it once review passes. VibeView doesn’t start Live App Testing. To get a build to testers first, download its .apk from the Builds page (or with vibeview builds download <id>) and upload it to Live App Testing in the Amazon Developer Console: My Apps → your app’s menu → Live App Testing. The Amazon Appstore now reaches Fire TV and Fire tablets, and a Fire TV app is built and submitted as an Android TV app. See Amazon testers.
