What is a TestFlight internal testing group?
An internal testing group is a TestFlight group made only of App Store Connect users on your team, who can test a build without Beta App Review.
Internal testers are people who already have an App Store Connect account on your team. Apple allows up to 100 of them per app, and they can test every build of the app for 90 days. Because they are your own team, their builds skip Beta App Review: a build is ready for them once Apple has processed it and its export compliance question is answered.
You create internal groups in App Store Connect under TestFlight, with the + next to Internal Testing. A group can have Enable automatic distribution turned on, so every new build reaches its members without being added by hand. Apple requires at least one internal group before you can create an external group.
Adding internal testers takes the Account Holder, Admin, App Manager, Developer or Marketing role, and only App Store Connect users can be added; when someone you expect isn’t listed, Apple says to change their user role. Someone outside your team can’t join an internal group: invite them to an external group instead.
In VibeView. The Submit dialog’s Testers list marks each group Internal or External. Choose an internal group, or pass --group "QA team" to vibeview submit, and VibeView adds the build to it after processing and export compliance. A group with automatic distribution shows as Gets every build and stays checked. New group in TestFlight details can create an internal group, but adding a person to one stays in App Store Connect: invite them in Users and Access, then add them to the group there. See Testers and groups.
